Cotter dam overflow
The Cotter Dam is a concrete gravity and rockfill embankment dam across the Cotter River, located in the Australian Capital Territory, Australia. Both the dam and river are named after early settler in the area Garrett Cotter. The impounded Cotter Reservoir is a supply source of potable water for the city of Canberra and its environs. WebThe enlargement of the Cotter Dam will deliver a more secure water supply for the Canberra region. The project involves building a dam downstream of the existing Cotter Dam to increase the volume of the Cotter Reservoir from 4 gigalitres (GL) to about 78 GL – increasing the ACT’s overall storage capacity by 30 per cent.
