Gutta silk painting
WebSerti (French for "fence" or "enclosing”) is the silk painting technique where designs are formed with gutta or resist liner. The gutta seals the fibers of the silk and prevents dye from going there. Gutta comes in clear, black, several colors and a range of metallics. Solvent-based gutta should be used in a well-ventilated space. WebSilk painting resists stop the dye from going where you don't want it to. There are two main types of resist for silk painting - wax and gutta. Wax resist is also known as batik and is good for blocking out large areas and creating crackled effects. Gutta a rubber-based liquid and is good for fine lines and detail.
